Dan Synder’s American Recovery & Reinvestment Plan
Feb 27, 2009
Throughout the day, we will hear from lifelong Redskins fans as they “celebrate” another year of off-season domination:

AWFUL! Freaking terrible! I knew this would happen…
Look at recent Super Bowl winning teams - Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Giants, Ravens - all these teams build through the draft. In the draft you acquire talent, youth, and depth for cheap.
Skins do the EXACT opposite. No draft picks, no depth, no youth, and all the money gets locked up in just a few players. It DOES NOT WORK.
Flippin pisses me off.
But, you better believe I’m going to buy Madden ‘10 and crush the hell out of the pocket with Haynesworth and go pick six with Hall all night and day.
G-Unit from ATL (editor’s note: Jets fan) -
Ya Boy Snyder cracks me up. Wow. Unless Snyder is in with Obama and getting a piece of the stimulus package this is a ridiculous amount of money to throw at Haynesworth. I will say this, that deal is better than paying $54 mil to injected cancer into your secondary for years to come. I can see Meangelo and Haynes singing “Hey Danny. Baby we got yo money, going to the club ta spend it on some strange”
Wall from ATL -
Remember when you were little and you would pronounce spaghetti “buscetti”? That’s what I like.
Keep the dollars flowing Danny…Derrick Dockery update.
Gersh from wherever he is in the world today -
Haynesworth is Stubblefield is Jason Taylor is Adam Archuleta is Deion Sanders is Jeff George is all why i was glad to be able to watch replays of Redskins games on Monday mornings in Hong Kong last season. My weekend wasn’t ruined once. By signing Haynesworth, I may finally have to institute my “no giving up Sunday for the Redskins until they are leading the division or close to it by week 8” policy.

Memo to Dan Snyder:
Americans are spending less and saving more. This applies to businesses as well.
This news excites me, only because I recently rejected a seat license at FedEx Field. These despicable and gross signings validate my painful decision. I had been waiting for those seats since 1993.
46East from The Fan -
I just woke up to this barrage of Redskins B.S. I really am speechless. I dont know what to do anymore. How can i root for a new team?
There really isn’t any way to ever feel excited about another franchise, but with Snyder & Cerrato running the show, I dont see how this is ever going to change. I hate, hate, hate every move we make. I can’t wait for the draft next month with our big 4 freakin picks.
Beef from B-more -
Umm, guess again if you think we’ll have enough money to sign a 1st round pick. Trade city.
One good thing about signing Haynesworth is the demonstrated commitment to go the extra mile to punish Cowboys.
Britton from Chi-Town (editor’s note: Pats Fan 2nd editor’s note: Fred Taylor to the Pats may be the most underrated pick-up of free agency) -
You would think over the last 10 years of owning the Redskins that Dan Snyder would have learned from his past mistakes. He has thrown a ridiculous amount of money at players with checkered pasts and one-year wonders. You would think he would look around the league and see the success that other teams have had and ask himself how they went about doing it? Let’s look at a couple of examples:
Miami: Turned a 1 win team into a playoff team. How? By hiring great executives and investing in the draft.
Atlanta: Turned a PR nightmare into a playoff team by drafting a franchise QB and hiring a new GM from a brilliant front office in New England.
Lesson: It starts in the front office and investing in the draft. Snyder has been the epitome of doing neither.
Now I must say this, Haynesworth is neither a one-year wonder nor a player with a significant checkered past. He is the best defensive tackle of the last decade. I think this move could be justified if the Redskins were one player away from making the playoffs, but they are not. They need a lot more than a stud DT and you can start with the quarterback.
I’m excited to hear about how happy all the Redskins fans are about how this year they are making the playoffs and have the potential to win a Super Bowl. They act this way every year. Over confident college football fans from the ACC who think they understand the NFL and believe paying guys like Brandon Lloyd $10 million bucks will lead them to the promised land!! It’s pure comedy!
I look forward to Week 3 when the their $54 million dollar man DeAngelo Hall is either on the bench because he has lost his starting position to a practice squad player or is locked up in jail for assaulting a patron at the local strip club joint who was looking at ‘his girl’ the wrong way!
G-Unit from ATL (editor’s note: Jets fan) -
What blows my mind is the fact that meangelo has been given $46 mil ($24 from Raiders and $22 from Skins) guaranteed in the last year. 8 games for the raiders and like 5 games with the Skins. His agent is a god! Wow.
