School is in Session
Becky Suder
Aug 19, 2008

It’s two weeks before school starts and I am ready.  I know I said in June that I loved summer vacation and I meant it, but we are at that point in the season where we have overstayed our welcome at the pool and our money is like silly putty it’s been stretched so far.  I have run out of fun cheap things to do and I’ve checked out over six hundred books from the library.  Barnes and Noble considers me a part time employee and we have seen all Sponge Bob has to offer.

I’m tired of trying to make my teen wake up before twelve and debating his curfew every night instead of just weekend nights.  We are in dire need of a schedule and school is our only option.  September 2nd here we come.  We look forward now to the days of waking at seven, picking up at three, an after-school snack and homework till dinner.  We welcome regular bedtimes and parent teacher conferences.

Pack up the suntan lotion and get out the crayons the graphing paper and permission slips because after I take out a small loan for their school supplies I am going to need those precious six hours a day to get some money back in the bank so I can pay for soccer uniforms, field trips, PTA memberships and school lunches.  Now that I think about it, what’s the rush I’m sure they won’t mind seeing us for one more round of Marco Polo.
