J.R. Tucker broke an 18-game losing streak with a last-minute touchdown.

Jared Bennett hit Tyleek Purvis from 10 yards out with 20 seconds remaining to lead the Tigers to victory.

Tucker’s Jacob Bennett led the team with 143 yards rushing on 19 carries. Mills Godwin quarterback Adam Blankinship had 2 touchdowns and 154 yards in the loss.

Tucker’s record with the win is 1-0 in the Colonial District, 1-4 overall. Godwin fell to 0-2, 1-4.

Monacan 24, Clover Hill 21
Monacan rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat No. 5 Clover Hill in a taut Dominion District game at Monacan.

Garett Patterson returned a punt 98 yards in the third quarter, and DreVonte Jarvis scored on a 35-yard run in the fourth for the Chiefs (2-1, 4-1).

Clover Hill (2-2, 4-2) took a 21-10 lead behind the passing of Josh Bailey (16 of 30 for 201 yards and three touchdowns). Chris Smith caught two of the TD passes, and Chris Conklin caught the other.

J.C. Wiggins scored Monacan’s TD, and Travis Luck booted a 22-yard field goal.

Smith ran back a punt for a touchdown with a minute remaining in the game, but it was called back because of a penalty.

Manchester 37, Cosby 33
Despite leading 26-17 at the half, No. 6 Cosby was held scoreless in the fourth quarter and Manchester edged the Titans 37-33.

Cosby took a big lead in the first quarter, starting with Terry Williams 73-yard kickoff return for a TD. Mike Birnbaum then returned a blocked punt for a 51-yard score for the Titans (4-1). Bryce Dillon capped the quarter scoring on a 33-yard pass from Fuller Hoepner.

Brandon Chiles (six carries, 68 yards) put Manchester on the board in scoring on a 16-yard pass form Tyler Henderson. Henderson went 23 of 28 for 320 yards, two TDs and one interception for the Lancers (3-2).

Manchester’s Tony Brown had 12 carries for 59 yards and returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to narrow the margin to two points at 33-31.

But it all came down to the fourth quarter. Manchester’s Josh Charity who scored on a 29-yard pass from Henderson to secure the victory.

John Saunders totaled 95 yards on 15 carries including an 8-yard touchdown run in Highland Springs’ win over Henrico (0-1 Capital, 1-4).

Montrel Garrison added a 17-yard TD run and totalled 66 yards for the Springers (2-0, 2-3).

The Warriors’ Timone Brown pulled his team within 1 when he returned an interception 88 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Springers’ defender Clinton Patterson countered with a 66-yard interception return for a TD in the fourth quarter.

Terron Adams had four catches for 138 yards and scored two touchdowns, and had an interception on defense for the Generals (2-0, 4-1).

Alex Stevens scored three touchdowns, Domonique Thompson ran for two and Thomas Dale defeated Matoaca (0-2, 1-4) 48-25 in a Central district matchup.

Stevens (10 carries, 136 yards) scored on runs of 2, 68 and 23 yards for the Knights (2-0, 2-3), and Thompson (nine carries, 145 yards) ran for 10 and 69 yard TDs.

Demetrick Jackson had four carries for 73 yards and ran for a 5-yard score for Thomas Dale. Drake Evans made 15 tackles and a fumble recovery, and Ben Saunders had 12 tackles.

Ryan Shook ran for a 1 yard score in the third quarter, and again in the fourth. Then Josh Edwards returned a kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown for the Warriors, but Matoaca couldn’t catch up.

FALLS CHURCH—Charlie Cox (eight carries, 76 yards) caught a touchdown and ran for another in Goochland’s 31-14 victory over George Mason (1-4).

Quarterback Tyler Carter was 4 of 5 for 89 yards passing and 32 yards rushing as well as scoring two touchdowns, and Willie Simmons kicked a 38-yard field goal and four PATs for the Bulldogs (2-3).

Jerry Brown scored two touchdowns to start the game and rushed six times for 106 yards as L.C. Bird shut down Midlothian 46-10 in a Dominion District matchup.

Kenyon Lewis tallied 106 yards on five carries and ran for a touchdown and Deon Clarke scored on a 42-yard interception return for the Skyhawks (4-0, 5-1).

Quarterback Jimmy Whitten went 15 for 25 for 126 yards and threw for a touchdown for the Trojans (1-2, 1-4).

Benedictine remained undefeated with its sixth victory, defeating Cumberland (3-2).

The Cadets opened the scoring with a 45-yard pass from Greg Petrohovich to Andy Williams. Darren Wilkins added touchdowns of 6 and 22 yards, then in the fourth quarter Greg found his brother Drew Petrohovich for a 25-yard touchdown to cap the scoring for Benedictine.

Hanover 49, Armstrong 0
Chris Lee ran for 105 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Hawks to an easy Capital District win over the Armstrong Wildcats.

Josh Wells threw for two touchdowns and 143 yards. Karlton Davis was his leading receiver with three catches for 73 yards and a score.

Steven Fogleman opened the second half with an 85-yard kickoff return for a score. Deane Cheatham added 73 yards rushing for the Hawks (1-1, 3-2) who finished 223 yards on the ground.

Michael Johnson paced seventh-ranked Hermitage to a Colonial District victory over John Marshall (0-2, 1-4) with his feet and arm.

The Panthers’ quarterback completed 11 of 19 passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 94 yards on 14 carries and scored the game’s first touchdown.

The Panthers moved to 2-0 in the Colonial District, 3-2 overall.

Frank Bullock scored the Justices’ touchdown.

Dillon Garthright passed for the Atlee’s first touchdown and rushed for 132 yards on 14 carries and another touchdown to key Atlee’s nondistrict 27-6 win over visiting George Wythe.

Wythe started the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run by Damon Speights, but it was all Atlee from that point on. The victory was the first this season for Atlee (1-4). Wythe (0-5) remained winless.

Joshua and Jessie Wells each ran for a touchdown and combined for 116 yards rushing to help the Rapids to a Dominion District win over the Falcons.

Matt Brooks also scored to give James River (2-2, 2-3) an unassailable 20-0 halftime lead.

Huguenot (0-4, 1-4) avoided the shutout when Darrius Bolling found Trevor Williamson for a 33-yard touchdown pass in the final quarter.

Dallas Simmons spearheaded a rushing attack that gained 220 yards and scored seven touchdowns as the second-ranked Wildcats throttled the Vikings (0-2, 0-5)in a Colonial District game.

Simmons ran for 115 yards and two scores on 14 carries. Antone Exum and Cody Roberts also ran for two TDs in a 53-point first half for Deep Run (2-0, 5-0).

Dante Harris returned a fumble 25 yards for Thomas Jefferson’s only touchdown.

Lawrence Taylor ran for two touchdowns and Brandon Doyle returned a kickoff 85-yards for a touchdown to send the Royals to comfortable win over the Blue Devils in a Central District game.

Taylor scored the first TD in each half and finished with 150 yards on 16 carries for Prince George (2-0, 3-2).

Jalen Reeves led Hopewell (0-2, 1-4) with 104 yards passing and a touchdown as well as a rushing touchdown.

Fork Union 20, St. Christopher’s 14
Ethan Taylor’s 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter turned out to be the decisive score for Fork Union Military Academy in a 20-14 victory over St. Christopher’s in a non-district matchup.

Taylor led Fork Union (5-1) with 24 rushes for 119 yards and two touchdowns. FUMA quarterback Jahmeal Quarles-Belt completed 6 of 7 passes for 129 yards and a TD for Fork Union.

Casey Fox put St. Christopher’s on the board in the first quarter, scoring on a 35-yard interception return. The Saints (2-3) were held scoreless until the fourth when Bart Farinholt tried to spark a comeback, scoring on a 54-yard pass from John Stillwell.

LAWRENCEVILLE—A surgical passing performance by quarterback Austin Wingfield lifted undefeated Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot to a VCC victory over Brunswick Academy (1-4, 1-6).

Wingfield completed 13 of 15 passes for 204 yards and four touchdowns. He threw three TD passes, including a 30-yarder to Kendall Trainum, during a second-period eruption that put the game out of reach for the Knights.

The winners (3-0, 7-0) surrendered only 77 yards of total offense.

The Central Virginia Disciples rushed for 363 yards and contained visiting Model School for the Deaf enough to record their sixth straight victory.

Manny McClure carried the ball five times for 113 yards and two touchdowns for the Disciples. He also caught two TD passes from Nate Hollis, who threw for 95 yards and three touchdowns.

Model (3-2) got three TDs from Sean Harden.
