Exum powers No. 2 Deep Run

Antone Exum tossed five touchdowns and ran for another as Deep Run, No. 3 in the Times-Dispatch Top 10 Poll, defeated John Marshall 51-20 last night in each team’s Colonial District opener.
Exum finished with 264 yards passing and threw three of his TDs to Jake Snyder (four receptions, 59 yards). Michael Dosh also grabbed a touchdown pass and had 78 receiving yards. Jordan Love contributed 204 all-purpose yards, including a 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Deep Run.
Billy Skrobacz blocked an extra point attempt and recorded a team-high 10 tackles to lead a defense that held John Marshall (0-1, 1-3) to 172 yards. Patrick Gallagher added a sack and six tackles for the Wildcats (1-0, 4-0).
Quantae Cooley scored on an 84-yard punt return, caught a 33-yard TD pass and also made an interception for the Justices.

Trey Johnson racked up 120 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in second-ranked Varina’s rout of host Atlee in the Capital District opener for both teams.
Varina’s Ishmael Banks had a 51-yard interception return for a TD, and T.K. Hester added a 24-yard pick return for a score.
Cory Gay was 6 for 6 in extra-point attempts for the Blue Devils (5-0), and Jerel Harrison scored on a 50-yard run.
Dylan Garthright’s 10-yard TD run in the third quarter was the only score for the Raiders (0-1, 0-4). Josh Doggett had seven tackles and two assists.

Quarterback Michael Johnson’s passing and rushing powered Hermitage past Mills Godwin in the Colonial District opener for both schools.
Johnson was 12 of 18 passing for 121 yards, and he rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, including a 33-yard burst.
The Panthers’ Stephen Reynolds was 5 for 5 on extra points, kicked an 18-yard field goal and averaged 41 yards punting.
Easton Gordon led the Hermitage (1-0, 2-2) with 108 yards and a TD in only six attempts.
On defense, Abu Kamara and and Devon Jackson stonewalled the Eagles (0-1, 1-3) as Kamara and Jackson combined for nine tackles and each had a sack.

Jamison Kenny ran for 100 yards on just four carries and scored a touchdown as Patrick Henry routed Colonial District rival J.R. Tucker.
The Patriots (1-0, 3-1) held the Tigers (0-1, 0-4) to just a fourth-quarter touchdown as Will Woodworth recorded 16 tackles and forced two fumbles. Adrian Cavanaugh (10) and Rodney Jackson (nine) totaled 19 tackles, and Jackson scored a touchdown on a 35-yard fumble return.
Quarterback Jered Bennett was 7 of 16 for 70 yards passing and rushed 22 times for 50 yards. Brother Jacob tallied 101 yards on 16 carries for the Tigers.

Quarterbacks Sam Jacobson and Carter Slough each ran for two touchdowns, and Slough passed for another as Douglas Freeman breezed past Thomas Jefferson in the Colonial District.
Robby Blanchard totaled 99 yards on 15 carries for the Rebels (1-0, 4-0).
The Vikings (0-1, 0-4) without a first down until the fourth quarter. Thomas Jefferson quarterback Terrell Hamiel went 16 of 29 for 60 yards.

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Kurt Fleming rushed 23 times for 134 yards and had two receptions for 34 yards, but St. Christopher’s (2-2) couldn’t hang on at St. Anne’s-Belfield.
Howie Long Jr. completed 6 of 14 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns to go with 34 yards rushing for STAB (2-2). Alex Asher (four catches, 78 yards) was on the receiving end for two of those touchdowns, and he scored another on a 94-yard kick return. Aaron Clark finished with 24 carries for 164 yards.
St. Christopher’s quarterback John Stillwell was 10 of 19 for 105 yards and Jackson Freeman tallied 11 carries for 49 yards and ran for two TDs.

HOPEWELL—A 40-yard interception return for a touchdown by Lance Ford opened the floodgates as the Crimson Wave routed the Blue Devils in the Central District on Saturday.
Demonte Green led Petersburg (1-0 Central, 4-0) with 12 carries for 107 yards, and quarterback Raliek Green (151 total yards) threw for two touchdowns and ran for another.
The Blue Devils (0-1, 1-3) scored on a 25-yard pass from Jalen Reeves to Calvin Ruiz.
